In appreciation of Heather Heying’s response to my inquiry on Twitter, I am in turn taking some time to write out my thinking. As she did, this is all in the spirit of discussion, not debate. I think that we can, with a bit of respect and a slower Twitter-finger, turn tense win-or-lose battles into inquiries to expand knowledge and produce change.
As I mentioned on the Twitter exchange, I had to take time away from this conversation for other concerns. I am glad that I did so, because I was able to come at the conversation in a less reactive way. I also took the time to listen to James Lindsay and his cohort Peter Boghossian in conversation with comedian and social critic Joe Rogan.
I believe that my drive to inquire about these claims is not in contradiction to their concerns and that we can come to an understanding which would bring more people to support the position that Dr. Heying…
